I am very pleased with the spray gun, have used it on a number projects and it works very well.
One thing I was impressed with was its ability to spray minwax polyshades which I have done in the past with a suction feed gun, but found them to clog. My use of finish appears much lower than the suction feed guns I have used for years with little over spray.
Most of the the other guns I looked at needed 6.0 or more CFM to keep the compressor from running continually. I recently purchased the Porter Cable PSH2 spray gun primarily because my Makita Mac 2400 compressor only delivers 4.2 CFM.
Granted I was not spraying a large cabinet but smaller projects. After reading some reviews I took a chance on the PSH2.
I was concerned with the small cup size anticipating having to fill it up often but because the gun sprays at a low pressure ( I have been using 35 PSI) I was pleasantly surprised at the small amount of polyurethane it used. I also like the fact that this gun is small in size and easily tilted to get into tighter areas.
I would also recommend the 1.2 mm tip size to spray finish as the gun comes with a smaller tip.
tip. It's easy to clean.
It sprays a good pattern and is easy to clean. Well constructed it's well worth the money.
I bought this gun for my son as a present and now I love to use it. I don't have an opinion on it's use for an automotive quality finish.Additional Comment: We've used the gun of and on now for six months and still like it.
I guess I should buy one for myself and retire my old Binks 100a. I should mention that I've only used the gun with acrylics and Alklyd paints for woodworking projects.
One thing I'd like to try is there is a.022 in. I think this tip would be useful for thinned latex paints.
this is an excellent spray gun for my wood turned pieces.much better than a larger spray gun for this type of work. it is easy to build very good layers of lacquer on curved and irregular surfaces. furthermore, it is well-made, easily adjusted and cleaned.
This sprayer works great and works well with my small pancake compressor. It is easy to clean. I use it with polyurethanes and cleanup up with mineral spirits by rinsing the cup and spraying the spirits through the unit into a rag which I then use to wipe off any overspray on the metal and the outside of cup.
